Top tips to get the most out of social media

In September 2017 there were approximately 2 billion internet users who were using social networks and these figures are expected to grow*. 
Social media is one of the cheapest, and fastest ways to promote your business. It can create public awareness, grow your relationships with potential clients, improve your search engine ranking, and even help convert sales. 

With that in mind, here are our top tips to get the most out of social media:

  1. Listen to your audience – Follow your target audience, and engage with them by leaving thoughtful comments, follow relevant feeds, and retweet and share their content. By doing so, you will not only gradually be able to grow a relationship with others but it will encourage them to share and engage with your posts too.
  2. Tailored content – When people feel a post contains valuable information, they will be more inclined to share it. Focus on producing educational content that is relevant to your target audience without being overtly salesy. This will not only build your brand credibility, but also result in loyal customers.
  3. Be consistent – The key to posting is to keep it consistent. Work out how often you want to post whether it be a few times a day, or a week, and stick to it. Do not let your accounts go dormant. By posting regularly and consistently, your audience will be more engaged.
  4. Schedule Posts – By developing a schedule for your accounts they will be far easier to manage. Save time by scheduling a block of posts at the start of each week, or month, using a social media platform dashboard. There are many free tools out there which can help business owners schedule posts, such as Hootsuite, Buffer, or Tweetdeck.
  5. Keep up to date – The internet can be a very fickle place. With this in mind, it is important to put thought into your profile photos and blog images. With free tools such as Canva, it is easy to update and edit photos by using their wide range of templates specifically designed for things like social media headers, thumbnails, and posts.
Social media can sometimes seem overwhelming due to the vast landscape of users and information out there. However, by following these simple steps, and putting a social media strategy in place, you will be able to build your online presence and increase your audience. Remember a social media following doesn’t grow overnight, take your time to get in front of the people you want to and you will be sure to see results.
