Armed Forces Covenant


As a company, we are pleased to announce that we have recently signed the Armed Forces Covenant and have therefore received the bronze award from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS).   

What is it?

The armed forces covenant is a pledge that together we acknowledge and understand that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, and their families, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy and society they serve with their lives.

Businesses and charitable organisations who wish to demonstrate their support for the armed forces community can sign the covenant. In doing so they make a range of written and publicised promises to set out their support.

Once the Armed Forces Covenant is signed, an employer is then eligible for the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) which provides different levels of awards for employer organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support to the defence and armed forces community.

What are the aims?

The covenant focusses on helping members of the armed forces community have the same access to government and commercial services and products as any other citizen.

This support is provided in a number of areas including:

·         Education and family well-being

·         Having a home

·         Starting a new career

·         Access to healthcare

·         Financial assistance

·         Discounted Services

How do we intend to support this?

Firstly, by signing & committing to the covenant.

Secondly, by signing our own unique pledge document which contains the following commitments:

·         Recognising military skills and qualifications in our recruitment and selection process

·         Working with the Career Transition Partnership (CTP), in order to establish a tailored employment pathway for Service leavers

·         Offering work experience opportunities for Service Leavers young and old including providing mock interviews and reviewing CVs

·         Welcoming applications from service spouses and partners who meet the criteria in the job specification

·         Endeavouring to offer a degree of flexibility in granting leave for service spouses and partners before, during and after a partner's deployment'

·         Consider special leave for employees who are bereaved or whose partner is injured

·         Seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, including by accommodating their training & deployment where possible

·         Aiming to actively participate & promote Armed Forces Day

·         Offering complimentary business or insurance advice & support to the Armed Forces Community
